Parterre Gardens: A History and Tour at the Pitot House

Presented by Anna Timmerman

The parterre garden fronting the historic Pitot House has endured many changes, but the essential design can be traced back over one hundred and fifty years. Gardener Anna Timmerman will provide examples from the fifteenth century onwards of French parterre gardens, as well as formal and contemporary examples here in New Orleans and abroad. A short garden tour and discussion of plans for future additions to the gardens and restoration of the Pitot House parterre will take place following a slide presentation.
